Cox Spinal Decompression

cox.JPG

Suffering from low back pain, sciatica (leg pain), stenosis, disc herniation, or low back sprain/strain? The Cox Technique is the most researched and currently the most effective conservative treatment for low back pain.

Cox Spinal Decompression technique, also known as Flexion/Distraction is a low force adjustive procedure that slowly and specifically tractions the spine. This allows us to increase the posterior height of the disc, reduce stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal), increase the transport of nutrients into the disc and reduce the internal pressure of the disc. It is very effective in treating bulging, herniated or ruptured discs, facet syndrome, spondylolisthesis, sprain/strain, scoliosis and spinal stenosis.

Thompson Drop Technique

Thompson Technique provides a gentle, very specific treatment for back pain, stiffness, imobility, mid-back pain, neck pain and headaches. It is also a very effective treatment for knee pain ankle pain and shoulder pain.

The Thompson Drop Technique uses a “segmental drop table” to enhance the motion of a segment or area to be adjusted. The segmental drop design takes advantage of the inherent design of the joints in order to improve the motion of the segment to be adjusted. It allows the Doctor of Chiropractic to safely, specifically, and comfortably adjust thejoints of the body. For those of you who prefer to know the science behind the technique, this mechanism is based on Newton’s First Law of Motion.

Diversified Adjusting Technique

For sufferers of back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, as well as pain in the extremities (ankles, knees, elbows, wrists, shoulders) Diversified Techniques has something for everyone.

Diversified Technique is widely practiced and incorporates a variety of adjustive techniques, mobilizations and stretches. With this technique we use speed rather than force to restore motion to the spine and other joints that have been found to be dysfunctional or out of proper position.

Laser Therapy Pain Relief

Cold Laser Therapy has been found to be very effective in speeding the healing process, decreasing pain and reducing inflammation.

Cold Laser Therapy refers to laser light therapy at the lower end of the spectrum. Because of the reduced frequency, this laser produces no heat to damage cells. On the contrary, this FDA approved device penetrates deeply into soft tissue and actually stimulates cellular processes, thereby enhancing biochemical reactions. Studies have shown substantial increases of ATP, the energy molecule of the cell. With more energy, the cell is able to better perform its function. This is particularly helpful in wound healing and nerve regeneration which makes it ideal for treating such things as carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, post surgical wounds, sports injuries, and many others. And best of all, there are more than 1500 published studies on the effectiveness of Cold Laser Therapy without one mention of harmful side effects.

arthrostim 2.JPG

ArthroStim Adjusting Instrument

The Arthrostim Technique is a gentle, yet powerful tool for adjusting every spine, including small children and those with osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and other conditions that make some types of spinal manipulation inappropriate.

The ArthroStim is an FDA approved instrument that introduces energy/force to the body to realign segments and remove pressure on nerves at a speed of 12 “taps” per second (12 hertz). It has been found that this particular frequency is most effective in introducing motion to joints, and stimulating the various specialized nerve endings in and around the joints of the spine. It is a fast, accurate, low force and controlled adjustment that stimulates muscle relaxation, increased blood flow and pain reduction at the same time that it is activating your proprioception. (Getting your brain into the action.)

Cranial Adjusting

Cranial adjusting offers relief from a multitude of symptoms including, but not limited to, headaches, dizziness, sinus congestion, TMJ (jaw pain), confusion, ringing in the ears and some hearing problems.

Until recently, medical science assumed that the cranium was fused after childhood. But now science has finally caught up with the theories that date back hundreds of years, that the sutures (lines that form the junctions between the various cranial bones) actually move in a rhythmic pattern in the living skull. This rhythmic movement, among other things, helps to pump cerebrospinal fluid (the nervous systems version of blood) through the central nervous system. When this mechanism is disrupted it can cause a multitude of symptoms including: headaches, dizziness, hearing problems, ringing in the ears, depression and an instability of the upper cervical spine. Dr. Jeffers uses a combination of Sacro-Occiputal Technique (SOT) and Applied Kinesiology Cranial Technique. This procedure involves gentle manipulation of the structures of the head to restore proper motion and position of the skull. She has seen some profound changes over the years as a result of this procedure.

Interferential Electro-Therapy

Sports Injury Relief with Chiropractic Care

Interferential Electro-Therapy is most often used for pain relief and to aid in reducing the swelling of soft tissue. Ligament sprains, muscle strains and spasms often respond to this treatment, helping to reduce atrophy and increase blood circulation. Tiny amounts of electrical impulses are induced into the tissues in the vicinity of the injury. Where these electrical waves intersect below the surface of the skin, a low-frequency stimulation is created. This prompts the body to secrete endorphins and other natural pain killers to help relieve discomfort.

Intersegmental Traction

Back Pain Relief for stiffness and immobility in the spine, many patients love the “roller table."

Intersegmental traction is a way of inducing passive motion into the spine for the purpose of stretching spinal joints and increasing mobility. The patient lies face up on a bench table which has roller-type cams beneath the surface. These rollers can slowly travel the length of the spine. Since discs have a poor blood supply, they get nutrients from the circulation of fluids surrounding spinal joints. Fixations prevent this natural circulation and can cause disc thinning and and degeneration. Intersegmental traction helps increase and restore necessary elasticity and motion to the spine.

Vibracussor Instrument

The Vibracussor is an instrument used along with the chiropractic adjustment to relax tense muscles, relieve lymphatic congestion, restore joint motion, reduce post-exertion muscle soreness, release superficial and deep fascia and free adhesions and scar tissue. The Vibracussor delivers waves of percussive impulses deep into tissues. Because it is pure percussion, these waves penetrate much deeper into the tissue than any other vibration type of therapy, giving a much more profound physiologic response.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a therapeutic treatment using high-frequency sound waves administered in the region of soft tissue injuries. Sound vibrations, as fast as a million times per second, penetrate the tissues deep in the body, creating a heat response. These vibrations and heat help to break down and disperse unhealthy calcium and other hard tissue accumulations. Painful, inflamed soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, etc.) respond very well to ultrasound therapy. Ultrasound can usually be administered directly to the area of complaint, penetrating deep into the body. The rise in temperature increases blood flow, relaxes muscle spasms, massages damaged tissues and speeds the healing process.

Small Animal Adjusting

Dr Jeffers has been trained by veterinarians to deliver gentle, effective chiropractic treatment to your pet. Pets have been shown to respond beautifully to adjustment. When combined with cold laser, the benefits are amazing. We recommend a preventive program to keep your dog or cat in optimal condition. Please be advised that Dr Jeffers is a Chiropractor, NOT a Veterinarian. She is in no way qualified to diagnose any kind of disease process in your pet. We will be glad to work alongside your Veterinarian to treat musculoskeletal problems such as disc herniation or hip dysplasia, once your pet has been properly diagnosed and our treatment has been approved by your vet.
